Global Sustainability Film Award Ceremony at BAFTA 2013 broadcast details for 21st October

The Global Sustainability Film Awards 2013 ceremony at BAFTA will be screened on 21st October by tv/e media partners Propeller TV, on Sky channel 189, and in China on the China International Broadcasting Network, see Shorts and Screenspace receive their award and interviewed by partner tv stations.

Shorts win tv/e Global Sustainability Film Award 2013 at BAFTA

On 10th October Short and Associates won the tv/e Global Sustainability Film Award for 2013 at BAFTA in Piccadilly for the film 'Robust Hospitals in a Changing Climate' produced and directed by Peter Cook and Monika Koek at Screenspace Ltd. The full 30 minute film is at but a 10 minute version for busy people is at  and on the tv/e awards website. The film presents the findings of the major UK Research Councils funded project Design and Delivery of Robust Hospitals in a Changing Climate  DeDeRHECC based at the University of Cambridge where Short is The Professor of Architecture in collaboration with Loughborough, Leeds and the Open Universities. Prof. Short is now appointed academic assurance member of the UK Dept of Health Energy Efficiency Fund Working Group seeking to fund energy efficiency and adaptation measures across the NHS. The film has elicited a first exciting response, an approach from the Indian Government Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Chief Architect to collaborate on the design of prototype district hospitals across India, some 640 are planned.

Ukraine-Cambridge collaboration through the EU funded Tempus project for knowledge transfer of sustainable architecture and Urban Design: Alan Short is the Principal Investigator at the Cambridge end with Dr.Sebastian MacMillan and was delighted to meet the Ukrainian delegation on their first visit to the University, including Sergey Chechelnitskiy Chief Architect of Kharkov, Professor Maria Kushnirenko Chair of the Town planning Department of the Kyiv National university of Building and Architecture, Professor Oleg Popov of the Odessa State Academy and Professor Igor Klimov of the State Technical University of Construction and Architecture.

Prof. Short was appointed Academic Leader of the new National Centre for International Research in Low Carbon and Green Buildings at the University of Chongqing P.R.China at a ceremony on April 11th in Chongqing attended by the President of the University; Head of Division of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education; Deputy Director- General of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; Deputy Head of the Department of of Cultural and Educational Experts, State Administration of Foreign Experts and the Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Beijing. Cambridge University is a Founder Member of the new national centre alongside the Universities of Reading and Loughborough.
